OK, this is really simple.

Use Synthetic Oil

1. You have less engine wear

2. It pays for itself because instead of changing it every 3k miles you can change it every 20k-30k

3. You get more horsepower because it lubricates better

Use Wix or K&N Oil Filters

1. These filters work better than any oil filter I have seen.

2. You can get the Wix filters at Napa Auto Parts (Sold at Napa under the Napa Gold brand) or at Car Quest and the K&N are probably sold everywhere else..  Most people that have a clue about cars will point you in the correct direction for a Wix or K&N filter.

Use K&N air Filters

K&N air filters offer high filtration with very low resistance allowing your engine to breathe easier.  This translates to better gas mileage and more horsepower.
